No. Synology DS120j comes with a fixed 512 MB DDR3L non-ECC RAM and cannot be extended or replaced with higher capacity RAM.
2. How many hard drives can I use with Synology DS120j?
Synology DS120j has only one hard drive slot. So, you can only use one hard drive at a time. You can use either a 3.5-inch SATA HDD or a 2.5-inch SATA HDD with an optional 2.5-inch Disk Holder.

Several reviewers at Amazon report this device will not support the latest OS from Synology. They say the new OS requires 1 GB memory AND they say they got this info from Synology. These reviews were dated Nov 2021. Not sure what the OS was back in Nov 2021, but now it is upto 7.1.
I have contacted Synology and waiting for a response but please let us know what info you have about it since you say in your article the device is at least compatible with Synology OS 7.0. Thanks.

I have DS120j, and it works perfectly fine with DSM 7.1. I am not using it as my daily driver. I have tried DSM 7.1 on it, and it works fine. Check this link for release notes.
