Qubo MagZap X10 Design

The Qubo MagZap X10 is available in three hues: Black, Blue, and White. The device I reviewed is Black, and it looks very good. Constructed from a fireproof PC/UL 94 V-O fire-rating plastic resin, this Powerbank boasts a Sandstone Finish that enhances the tactile experience.

The sandstone finish on the power bank differs from that on the OnePlus One. While it offers a satisfying grip, it can occasionally appear to have accumulated dust. Nonetheless, thanks to the sandstone finish, the surface remains resistant to fingerprint smudges. The front side displays the Qubo logo, and the power button is conveniently situated at the bottom on the right side.

Located at the bottom are a series of LED indicators alongside a USB-C PD and USB-A ports. There are five LED indicators in total. The first LED glows green, signaling that the powerbank is ready to charge devices. The remaining four LEDs display the battery level, indicating 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% respectively.

Another valuable addition to the MagZap X10 is its built-in stand. This feature allows you to place your phone horizontally without disrupting the charging process, enabling you to watch TV shows or movies while your phone charges. The stand that securely holds the phone in place fits perfectly into its slot and remains silent when not in use, without any rattling sounds. You won’t even notice the stand is there, thanks to its excellent fit and finish.

Qubo MagZap X10 Features

One standout feature of the Qubo MagZap X10 is its compatibility with MagSafe technology, designed specifically for iPhone models such as the iPhone 13 Series, iPhone 14 Series, and iPhone 15 Series. With MagSafe support, this power bank offers fast magnetic charging for these iPhones while also conveniently charging AirPods equipped with a wireless charging case. The built-in magnets are sufficiently strong to hold both the phone and the powerbank in place securely.

The power bank provides two charging methods: Wired and Wireless. With the wired option, you can charge any device using the USB-A (Max 18W) and USB-C (Max 20W) ports. Wireless charging is tailored for MagSafe-compatible iPhones and Qi-enabled devices. Notably, all Apple iPhone 12 series and newer models support MagSafe technology, eliminating the need for an additional magnetic ring attachment. You can directly attach the MagZap X10 to the back of these devices.

Furthermore, if your phone case is MagSafe compatible, such as the official Apple case or Spigen case, you can also use the powerbank directly with the case. However, for the iPhone 11 series and iPhone X series, which support wireless charging but not MagSafe, you’ll need to attach an external metal ring to the back of the device or case to utilize the powerbank’s wireless charging feature.

This powerbank also supports Qi-enabled devices such as the Pixel 7a, Pixel 8 Pro, Galaxy S21 FE, Nothing Phone 1, OnePlus 12, etc. Since these devices don’t include built-in magnets, you’ll need to attach the provided magnetic ring to the back of your phone or the case to enable the magnetic wireless charging functionality.

In addition to wired and wireless charging capabilities, this power bank also features pass-through charging, allowing you to charge two devices simultaneously. You have the flexibility to charge one phone wirelessly while charging another device through either the USB-C or USB-A port. When charging two devices concurrently, the power bank will automatically switch to standard 5V charging, and the wireless charging output will adjust to 5W.

Thanks to MagSafe, you can utilize this powerbank to activate StandBy mode on your iPhone, transforming its screen into a smart display. Upon attaching the powerbank to your phone, StandBy mode kicks in (if enabled from Settings), allowing your phone to function as a bedside clock, photo frame, and more. Moreover, when Night Mode is activated for StandBy, the screen adjusts to low ambient light conditions at night, displaying content with a red tint to avoid disturbance while you’re sleeping.

How to Use Wireless Charging in MagZap X10

Charging iPhone 12 Series or Later

Press the power button to turn on the MagZap Powerbank. Place the iPhone in the charging pad to start charging. Once it is charged, simply remove it. If your case is Magsafe-compatible, you can continue attaching the power bank directly to your phone. If your case doesn’t support Magsafe, affix a ring to the case and then attach the powerbank to the ring. You can also attach the ring to the phone.

Charging Qi-enabled Android Phones

For Qi-supported Android devices, you can utilize the powerbank as a tabletop charger. Activate the power bank by pressing the power button, then position your phone over the wireless charging area of the powerbank to initiate charging. As there are no magnets involved, the power bank won’t charge your phone if used with a case. To enable charging with a case, you’ll need to attach the provided ring either to the case or directly onto the phone. Once the ring is attached, you can use the powerbank, similar to how you would with a MagSafe-powered iPhone.

Place the Airpods flat in the charging area to start charging. Ensure that your device is properly charging. Simply remove the Airpods once it is charged.

Note: Qubo says that when using the MagZap Power Bank, remove metallic cases and refrain from placing metallic foreign objects such as keys, coins, batteries, or jewelry on it. These items may disrupt charging or become warm enough to cause discomfort or injury if touched. Additionally, avoid placing any item with an RFID tag, such as a contactless credit card, passport, or access card, on the MagZap Power Bank, as it could potentially damage the RFID.

Charging the MagZap X10 Powerbank

The MagZap X10 features a USB-C Power Delivery port (PD) capable of charging phones and recharging the powerbank itself. With USB PD support of up to 20W, it takes approximately 3 hours to charge from around 20% to 100%. Make sure you use good quality cable to change both the powerbank and phones. The included cable works fine, but it’s a bit short in length.

Qubo MagZap X10 Opinion

After using the MaxZap X10 for the past week, I am quite satisfied with its overall performance. I have exclusively utilized the Powerbank in wireless mode and did not observe any issues. The powerbank is slightly bulky due to its large batteries, and I’ve noticed that holding it along with the phone for extended periods, especially while on the move, can make hand feel tired.

Qubo MagZap X10

Although the powerbank boasts a 10,000mAh battery capacity, its rated capacity is about 5,800mAh. This implies that you can fully charge a 5000mAh battery once with a few percent of the Powerbank’s capacity remaining. In my testing, I managed to charge my iPhone 15 Pro once with roughly 25% of the Powerbank’s capacity left. It took about 3.5 hours to go from 12% to 100%. If you use older iPhone models like the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro, you can charge these devices twice using the MagZap X10.

I’ve noticed that when charging a phone wirelessly, it can sometimes become quite warm. In comparison to traditional charging methods, where the energy transfer is more direct, MagSafe has the potential to generate more heat due to the wireless energy transfer between the charger and the device.

Another observation I made concerns the size of the powerbank. With its larger battery, the powerbank is larger, extending beyond the dimensions of the iPhone in some areas, especially Pro and Pro Max models. Specifically, the top portion of the powerbank can interfere with the camera module of the iPhones when both devices are aligned. This issue arises only when the iPhone is used without a case. However, when paired with a case such as Spigen, the length of the power bank aligns with that of the iPhone.

This powerbank is specifically designed for iPhones with MagSafe support, enabling wireless charging of iPhones at speeds of up to 15W. This feature proves to be quite useful in various scenarios, such as when you’re shooting a video or taking photos, and your battery is running low. Simply attach the powerbank to the back of your phone and continue your work uninterrupted. Moreover, you can simultaneously charge a device wirelessly and another device via a wired connection at 5W speeds. The speed may be lower compared to other non-wireless power banks, but it remains quite useful in specific scenarios.

In terms of pricing, the Qubo MagZap is listed at ₹2,999, which is higher compared to its competitors. Some wireless powerbanks with slightly improved specifications are available for as low as ₹1,799, but the quality of the product can vary. While I haven’t used such competing products myself, I cannot comment on their performance.

However, I have been using multiple Qubo products in my daily life, and I have never experienced any major issues with them. The same goes for the MagZap X10. I’m satisfied with its overall performance. For me, MagZap X10 serves as a backup powerbank rather than a primary one. I generally prefer wired power banks as they tend to charge faster and often feature slimmer designs with higher-rated capacity batteries. If you’re looking for a MagSafe-supported powerbank and have the budget for it, opting for the MagZap X10 is a good choice. You won’t be disappointed.
