Nokia 8 was first introduced globally on 17th August 2017 and today the company has launched it in India at an event held in New Delhi. It is the first dual camera smartphone from Nokia and also the first device to feature Nokia OZO spatial 360° audio technology that has been used by Hollywood filmmakers and music producers. It flaunts a metal unibody design made up of a single block of 6000 series aluminum through the 40-stage process of machining, anodizing and polishing. The dual camera setup includes a 13 Megapixel dual image-fusion rear cameras with one color and another monochrome. Both front and rear cameras are equipped with ZEISS optics and the rear camera supports 4K video recording. For selfies and video calls, it includes a PDAF powered 13 Megapixel front camera. The device sold in India supports dual SIM and features a hybrid SIM tray.
Nokia 8 sports a 5.3″ QHD polarized display with a resolution of 25660×1440 pixels and protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood is Qualcomm’s high-performance Snapdragon 835 mated with 4GB RAM and 3090mAh battery. Nokia has also introduced a new camera mode called Dual-Sight mode. It allows you use both front and rear camera in the split screen mode and can also be live streamed to social feeds such as Facebook and YouTube. The fingerprint scanner is embedded into the menu button. This device offers an internal memory of 64GB and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with a guaranteed update to Android Oreo in coming weeks. Key connectivity features included are USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi AC, GPS, VoLTE, and 3.5mm audio port.
The Nokia 8 will be offered in Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue, & Steel hues and priced at ₹36,999. It is exclusively available online through Amazon India and also through offline retail stores starting October 14, 2017.
