At Google For India event held in New Delhi, the technology giant Google has launched a number of new products specially made for the Indian market. Also, the company has introduced new features to existing apps such as Google Maps, Google Tez etc. Check out the key highlights of the event below.
Bill Payment Support for Google Tez App
Google Tez is the UPI based banking app was launched in September 2017 and within a span of three months, this app processed over 140 million transactions from nearly 12 million active users. Also, as per Google, there are more than 5,25,000 merchants are using Tez app to take and make payments. Today, Google has announced Bill Payment support for Tez app. Initially, there will be about 70 billers including utilities and direct-to-home service providers. Few of them are Act Broadband, BookMyShow, Reliance Energy, Tata Docomo, DishTV etc. Once you pay a bill on Tez app, the billing organization will be added automatically to the list of billers. Also, Tez will remind users when certain bills are due. Another important highlight is the Payment Status. Once the user completes the Payment, the status will be automatically updated which avoids paying the same bill twice. The update will be rolling out gradually over next few weeks and users will receive the notification once the feature is available for them.
Two-wheeler mode in Google Maps
This is an India-first feature available to all Google Maps users in India and will be rolling out to other countries in the coming months. Two-wheeler mode in Maps shows trip routes that use shortcuts not accessible to cars and trucks and also provides customized traffic and arrival time estimations.
Google Files Go App
Google File Go was introduced a few days back under Beta program and Today Google has made it available for everyone. Files Go is a storage management app that helps you free up space on your phone, find files faster, and share them easily offline with others. It comes with various features such as Smart recommendations, Encrypted file transfer, Cloud backup etc. This app is available to download for devices running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and higher.
Google Go App
Google Go is a new app from Google Search, specially made to meet the needs of users who are new to the Internet. It is available to download in India and Indonesia for devices running on Android 4.3 or later. This app includes various features such as Instant translation to search results, App shortcuts, Quick trending topic search, Quick Image or GIF search etc. Google Go app is less than 5MB to download and search results in Google Go are optimized to save up to 40 percent data. Android Oreo Go Edition
Android Oreo Go Edition is specially built to provide a better user experience for devices with 512MB to 1GB of RAM. It includes various Performance and storage improvements, Built-in data management, and Security benefits. Smartphones running Android Oreo Go Edition will hit the market in early 2018. Google Assistant for JioPhone
Google has announced a new Google Assistant specially made for JioPhone. It is available in two languages – Hindi and English. This assistant can help make phone calls, text, play music and videos, navigate and search the internet, and access other apps and services. It will be rolling out to JioPhone starting today.
