A few days after announcing the entry-level Redmi 8A, Xiaomi launches Redmi 8, the successor of last year’s Redmi 7 in India. It’s a camera-centric smartphone that comes with a 6.22-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop styled notch and powered by the Snapdragon 439 octa-core Mobile Platform with 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. For your information, Xiaomi is bundling a 10W charger inside the box and you’ll have to buy an 18W charger (available at Mi.com at ₹349) in case if you want faster charging.

For photography, the Xiaomi Redmi 8 gets a dual-camera setup on the rear side which includes a Sony-made 12MP IMX36 sensor aligned vertically with a 2MP depth sensor. Over to front, this device has an 8MP camera housed inside the display notch and supports various AI modes. Alongside Face Unlock, Redmi 8 also equipped with a fingerprint scanner which is placed just below the dual-camera module. It is available in two configurations – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB Storage.

The Redmi 8 is offered in four colors – Emarald Green, Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue, and Ruby Red and will be available to buy via Flipkart and Mi.com starting 17th September 2019 at 11:59 PM. The 3GB/32GB variant is priced at ₹7,999 and the 4GB/64GB at ₹8,999. As a limited time offer, the 4GB/64GB variant of Redmi 8 will be available at an introductory price if ₹7,999 for the first 5 million units. Emarald Green variant of Redmi 8 variant may be available at a later date.

Why don’t redmi have an exchange facility? It is awful to beat the upcoming better new versions of its smartphone. I am a redmi lover and now using redmi 5 (which has still no defect), willing to exchange it with some new models like this redmi 8.
