Xiaomi Redmi 5A with 5″ Display, 3000mAh Battery, 13MP Rear Camera Launched in India Starting at ₹4,999

Xiaomi Redmi 5A is the successor of Redmi 4A which was launched in India in March 2016. Although the Redmi 5A includes the same 3000mAh battery which is present in the Redmi 4A, as per Xiaomi, it can provide up to 8 days of standby time with MIUI 9’s system-level power optimization techniques. Similar to Mi A1, this smartphone also comes with a Dual pyrolytic graphite sheet for improved heat management which quickly defuses the heat. Furthermore, the company has including a custom the power charger to support voltage up to 380v, which can withstand sudden surge or decrease. There is no fingerprint scanner on Redmi 5A.

To recall, Redmi 5A sports a 5″ HD IPS display and powered by the Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz along with Adreno 308 GPU and 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The camera department includes a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. The camera also supports HDR, Panorama, Burst mode, Face recognition, Real-time filters etc. Unlike the Chinese variant, The Redmi 5A in India comes with a dedicated microSD card lets you expand the device storage up to 128GB. Other key specifications are MIUI 9, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, VoLTE, and IR sensor to control compatible home appliances.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A is offered in three colors Gold, Rose Gold & Dark Gray and available to buy via mi.com, Flipkart, Mi Home stores starting 7th December 2017 at 12 PM. It is available in two variants. The 2GB/16GB variant priced at ₹4,999 and 3GB/32GB variant costs ₹6,999. It will also be made available through certified offline retail stores in the coming weeks. All the Redmi 5A sold in India will be manufactured in Sri city, Andhra Pradesh under Make In India campaign.
