Amazon introduced Live TV feature for Fire TV devices in India. With this new feature you watch your favourite TV channels on the Fire TV from your subscribed appss. You can access Live TV feature from ‘Live’ tab on the navigation pane and an ‘On Now’ row on the Fire TV home screen. The ‘On Now’ row will particularly highlight all programmes that are currently live on different channels.
Additionally, you can also access the integrated channel guide for these subscribed apps. As of now, SonyLIV, Voot, Discovery+, NextG TV, and Zee5 (coming soon) are the first five content providers to integrate Live TV experience. Amazon has also integrated Voice feature to Live TV wherein you can. quickly access live channels by simply saying, for instance, “Alexa, Watch Colors HD”.
Subscribers can watch can access to popular channels including Sony SAB HD, Colors HD, SET HD, Nick HD+, Dangal, DD National, News18 India, MTV Beats HD, SONY BBC Earth HD, Mastii TV Music, Discovery and very soon to Zee TV, Zee Cinema and Zee News. If you have downloaded and subscribed to any of the integrated apps on Fire TV devices, you will see the ‘On Now’ row on the home screen. Also, a red bar at the bottom of each thumbnail will indicate the real-time progress of the show.
Furthermore, you’ll also get access to the Fire TV channel guide that helps you choose your favorite channels and browse what’s live now. It is accessible in the ‘Options‘ row of the ‘Live‘ tab. For newly launched Fire TV Lite customers, channel guide can be accessed through the guide button on the Alexa Voice Remote Lite.
For all existing Fire TV and Fire TV Edition customers, the ‘Live’ tab has already started rolling out and might take a few weeks to reach every device. The ‘On Now’ row is available to existing customers on the basis of their app downloads and subscription status. For new customers, the Live tab will be available within a few weeks after the device is activated and the ‘On Now’ row will be accessible after downloading and subscribing to the integrated apps.
