Fossil today announces the release of a new software update for its popular Gen5 smartwatch. The latest update brings various features such as Health tracking, Battery optimization etc. to enhance the user experience. The software update (OTA) has already started rolling out in India.
The latest update on the Fossil Gen5 includes an all new tracker that can estimate a user’s cardio fitness level (VO2 max) during intensive training and also a sleep tracker. The activity tracker can also tracks users workouts with the support of the new Wellness App. The OTA update also includes customizable battery modes result in extended battery life and new phone app updates aid quick & convenient access.

- Optimized Activity Tracker – All new Wellness App that monitors real-time metrics and optimizes battery life by shifting power consumption off the main processor. It also tracks various parameters like heart rate, pace, distance, steps, calories and more.
- Sleep Tracking – Track sleep history and set goals.
- Cardio Fitness Tracking – The watch shows the estimation of VO2 max using resting heart rate and user biometrics such as age, gender, weight to display an approximated overall fitness level over time.
- Battery Modes – Custom Mode to achieve your daily goals and Extended Mode for improved battery life.
- Phone App Updates – New Phone tile and the addition of contact avatars, allow for quick access to ongoing call status, previous call history and improved overall usability. Both Android and iPhone users can continue to answer tethered calls through an exclusive feature from Fossil.
- Hand-wash timer – Allows users to scrub up safely and also enables users to avoid touching high-contact surfaces with voice commands.
The Fossil Gen5 smartwatch is available in six colors – Black, Smoke, and Rose Gold. It will be available for purchase on Fossil’s official website, Fossil retail stores & also through Fossile Partner Channels across India at ₹22,995.
