Vi has recently introduced eSIM services for its prepaid customers in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and Goa. The Vi eSIM is compatible not only with smartphones but also with smartwatches. This expansion means that both postpaid and prepaid Vi customers can now make use of the eSIM feature on their devices, enhancing their connectivity experience.
Vi eSIM is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. To get an eSIM card, eligible Vi customers can update their email ID by sending an SMS with the content ‘Email Email ID’ to 199 from their Vi number. After successfully registering the email ID, customers need to wait for 48 hours to receive a confirmation SMS and activate the service.
How to Get Vi eSIM on Your Phone
- To initiate the eSIM activation process, send an SMS to 199 with the message “eSIM <space> your registered email ID.”
- Upon validation of your email ID, you’ll receive a confirmation SMS. Reply with “ESIMY” within 15 minutes to confirm the eSIM change request.
- Following confirmation, expect a subsequent SMS requesting consent through a phone call.
- Once you provide consent over the call, a QR Code will be sent to your registered email. Scan the QR Code via Settings > Mobile Data > Add data plan, selecting your device’s default line (Primary/Secondary).
- Your eSIM will be activated within 30 minutes after the QR Code scan.
