Sony has launched two mid-range smartphones named Xperia R1 and R1 Plus in India. These smartphones are exclusively for the Indian customers and will be manufactured in India. Both devices come with the same set of specifications except the RAM and Storage. The Xperia R1 has 2GB RAM and 16GB Storage wherein R1 Plus has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Rest all specifications remain same. Out of the box, these devices run on Android Nougat and Sony has also promised Android Oreo update in the coming months. Apart from the Dual SIM slot, these devices also house a dedicated microSD slot to expand the device storage up to 128GB. There is no fingerprint scanner on both phones.
The Xperia R1 and R1 plus sports a 5.2-inch HD display and driven by the octa-core Snapdragon 430 CPU with 2620mAh battery. Camera optics included are a 13MP primary camera with LED flash and a 8MP front camera. Both front and rear cameras come pre-loaded with 12 capturing modes and also support Beauty mode. Other key specifications are USB Type-C port, WiFi n, Bluetooth, GPS with GLONASS, and VoLTE support.
Both Xperia R1 and R1 Plus are offered in Black & Silver colors and priced at ₹12,990 and ₹14,990 respectively. These smartphones will be available across all Sony Centers, major mobile retail stores across India and also through Amazon & Flipkart. Pre-booking on Amazon India begins on 27th October 2017.
