After launching A17, OPPO further expands its A-series lineup with the launch of OPPO 78 5G in India. It sports a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset with 8GB RAM onboard and an additional 8GB RAM through OPPO’s RAM-expansion technology. The OPPO A78 5G is compatible with all Indian service providers, including Jio, Vodafone, and Airtel (on SA and NSA networks). The device is also equipped with a fingerprint reader.
The OPPO A78 5G is backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports OPPO’s 33W SUPERVOOC fast-charging technology, which can be fully charged in around 60 minutes. According to OPPO, the device uses the Super Night Standby algorithm and analyses users’ sleep patterns to lower power consumption to only 2% during the night. Additionally, its Superpower Saving mode can be user activated when the battery charge is low to conserve energy for emergencies.
Coming to the camera, the OPPO A78 5G sports dual rear cameras comprising a 50MP main shooter and a 2MP depth sensor for natural bokeh in portraits. In addition to 50MP snapshots in good-lighting conditions, the shooter also captures 12.5MP pixel-binned photos with more accurate colors and details in low-light environments. The device also features an 8MP front camera for high-quality pictures and boasts smart imaging features such as AI Portrait Retouching, AI Scene Enhancement, and Ultra Night Mode.
The A78 5G Dual Stereo Speakers come with Real Original Sound Technology tested by Dirac—to provide immersive surround sound for music, hi-def videos, and games. It also packs an Ultra Volume Mode where users can turn up the speaker level by 200% to hear clear sound, even in the noisiest environments. Other key features are ColorOS 13, Flex Drop for efficient multitasking, Three-Finger Translate with Google Lens, Dual stereo speakers, AI Eye Comfort, and Photo Information Protection, which lets users erase photo and video metadata to prevent the leak of private data.

OPPO 78 5G comes in two colors – Glowing Blue and Glowing Black and is priced at ₹18,999. It will be available for purchase via Amazon.in, OPPO E-Store, and also through mainline retail outlets across India starting from 18th January 2023. You can avail of up to 10% cashback and six months of No-cost EMI from ICICI, SBI, BOB, IDFC, ONECARD, and AU FINANCE banks. According to OPPO, each OPPO A78 5G device is subjected to more than 320 quality tests and 130 extreme reliability tests to ensure its durability.
