OnePlus recently unveiled the highly anticipated OnePlus 12R in India. Following the launch, it was initially communicated that the 256GB storage variant boasts UFS 4.0 technology, while the 128GB variant supports UFS 3.1. However, some users who purchased the OnePlus 12R 256GB model have reported that their devices do not exhibit UFS 4.0 speeds. Benchmark results indicated speeds comparable to UFS 3.1. Several users shared screenshots on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) showcasing the absence of UFS 4.0 on their OnePlus 12R devices.
OnePlus has issued a clarification regarding this issue. According to OnePlus, there was a mistake in the communication, and the top-tier variant, OnePlus 12R 12/256GB, also supports UFS 3.1. OnePlus stated, “Due to an error, we initially mentioned that the storage enhanced by Trinity Engine would be UFS 4.0 in some variants. We can now confirm that the storage in all variants of the OnePlus 12R is still enhanced by Trinity Engine but is, in fact, UFS 3.1.”
OnePlus has additionally mentioned that individuals who have preordered or already bought the device and wish to address this matter further with their team can reach out to OnePlus Customer Service through the official OnePlus channels.
