New Android 8.1 Oreo Update with July Security Patches Available for Xiaomi Mi A1

On 29th June, Xiaomi had rolled out Android 8.1 Oreo update for its popular Mi A1 smartphone and pulled it back immediately because of some serious reports of a critical bug that can reportedly wipe the SMS history. Now the company has started rolling out a new Android 8.1 Oreo update with July 2018 Security patches. Those who have already on Android 8.1 will receive the update with file size about 467.3 MB and those who are on Android 8.0 will receive the larger 1.1GB update. Being an Android One device, it still doesn’t support Project Treble.

As its a staged rollout, might take a few days to hit your device. Meantime you can also check for the update manually. Go to Settings -> System -> System updates -> Check for updates. Always download the update using WiFi network and update the device with minimum 50% battery. It’s always a good practice to take a full backup of your smartphone before initiating the update.
