Lenovo Launches SmarterEd Education Platform in Collaboration with eVidyaloka

Lenovo launches a new education platform called SmarterEd in collaboration with eVidyaloka to facilitate free virtual education and deal with the shortage of teachers across India. SmarterEd is a free online platform, designed to encourage Indian youth to participate in digital remodeling of the education system, by matching learners with volunteer educators in one-on-one online learning sessions.

The Lenovo SmarterEd platform allows students from classes V to XII to choose their teachers, select the subject they would like to learn, and take out time to learn as per their convenience. This platform also has links to NCERT and State syllabus ebooks for the learners, and also allows seamless student-teacher communication through a chat engine.

It supports multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu. As of now only English and Hindi are supported and support for others will be made available in the coming days. According to Lenovo, Teachers and students are matched using an algorithm that takes into account their respective teaching and learning styles. Volunteers and other interested individuals can log on to the site (click on the link below) for more details.

Commenting on the launch, Rahul Agarwal – CEO and Managing Director, Lenovo India said, “Technology has the power to solve problems, create opportunities and transform the way we all live, learn, and work. SmarterEd is secure, extremely accessible, enriching, and is a relevant medium of education fit for the present-day scenario, where schools across the country have been forced to suspend classes. With this platform, we want to empower all segments of the society with quality education.”
