OnePlus Releases Android 11 Developer Preview 3 with OxygenOS 11 for OnePlus 8 Series

OnePlus officially announces Android 11 Developer Preview 3 with OxygenOS 11 for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro users. With this, OnePlus 8 Series users will get an opportunity to try out the Android 11 Developer Preview 3 and get a first look at the refreshed design and features of OxygenOS 11.

OxygenOS 11 Features

  • New visual design (Weather app, Launcher, Gallery, Notes)
  • New layout for comfortable and convenient one-handed operation
  • Always-on display function with 11 new clock styles
  • Live wallpaper – Changes according to the time of day
  • New OnePlus Sans font that improves readability
  • Optimized Dark Mode and Ability to automatically turn on and off and a shortcut in Quick Settings
  • 3 new Zen Mode themes, more timing options, and new Group feature to experience Zen Mode with friends
  • New Gallery function – Automatically creates a weekly story based on your photos and videos

Note: These instructions are only for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. The OnePlus 8 series carrier devices (TMO/VZW) aren’t compatible with the Developer Preview builds. Also, while updating to developer preview make sure the battery is above 30% and a minimum 3GB of storage space is available.

Known Issues

  • Some third-party applications may not function as expected
  • System stability issues
  • Network stability issues in some scenarios

How to get OxygenOS 11 update?

  1. Go to this link and download the appropriate zip package
  2. Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage
  3. Go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Click top right icon -> Local upgrade -> Click on the downloaded installation package -> Upgrade
  4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart

Things to remember:

  • There is always a risk of Bricking your phone, so upgrade the device to developer preview only if you know what you are doing
  • Backup your important data before flashing and disable the OEM unlocking
  • If you are already on the Developer Preview 2, your data will not be deleted. Still, its recommend to backup all your data before initiating the update
  • You’ll lose all your data if you want to roll back to the Stable official version from the developer preview. So, backup all your data before initiating the update
