Amazon Alexa App Gets a Sleek New Design and a New Home Screen

Amazon today announced a new update to its Alexa app. The new update brings a few changes including a new home screen, updated navigation, and also a sleek new design to get things done quickly with Alexa. The update will be rolled out worldwide over the next month and expected to be available to everyone by late-August. New customers can download the Alexa app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

What’s New in the Alexa App:

A More Personalised Experience – Users will get personalized suggestions on the home screen based on what they care about most, like accessing reminders or listening to an Audible Book etc.

Engagement with Alexa – A dedicated Alexa button at the top of the home screen to make it easier to immediately find Alexa and start talking. Users can also enable a hands-free Alexa experience, where they can just say “Alexa” whenever the app is open on the screen.

Update

Suggestions for New Customers – New customers will see suggestions to get started with Alexa, to play songs from Amazon Music, or to manage the shopping list.

“More” has Moved – Customers can now select “More” on the bottom navigation bar to bring up app-wide features such as Reminders, Routines, Skills, Settings, etc.

The update gives customers access to frequently-used app features directly from the home screen while navigating a simplified layout to find everything they need. As customers continue to use the Alexa app, it will provide more personalized suggestions based on what customers care about most, the brand said in a media release.
