Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus with 18:9 Display Goes Official

Xiaomi has launched two new affordable smartphones dubbed as Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus at an event held in China. Both are equipped with 18:9 display and available in different RAM and storage variants. In terms of design, both look similar but comes with different set of specifications. Both are Dual SIM 4G devices houses a Hybrid SIM tray and supports microSD card up to 128GB. Also, both devices are equipped with a fingerprint scanner which is mounted on the rear side. Redmi 5

Xiaomi Redmi 5 comes with a 5.7-inch 18:9 display and powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 450 CPU and 3300mAh battery. It is available in two variants – 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. For photography it has a 12MP rear camera with single LED flash and 5MP front camera with Selfie soft light. Other key specifications are 2.4GHz WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, VoLTE support and Infrared sensor.

Redmi 5 Plus

The Redmi 5 Plus sports a bigger a 5.99-inch 18:9 display and powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 625 CPU and 4000mAh battery. It is available in two variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. Although it comes with the same front and rear cameras, the single LED flash on the rear is replaced by the Dual CCT flash. Other key specifications are 5GHz WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, VoLTE support and Infrared sensor. Also, this device comes with a Hall sensor which is not present on the Redmi 5.
