Along with the Galaxy S10 Series, Samsung has also launched its much-awaited Foldable-display smartphone named Galaxy Fold. It features the world’s first 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display, which folds into a compact device with a 4.6-inch cover display. In terms of design, it has a Samsung invented polymer layer for better flexibility and a sophisticated hinge with multiple interlocking gears housed in a hidden enclosure for a seamless and elegant look. There is also a fingerprint scanner which is mounted on the side of the device.
The battery along with other components are evenly distributed on both sides to achieve the balance. One of the key highlights of the Galaxy Fold is the Multi-Active Window that allows you to open up to three active apps simultaneously on the main display. Also, if you open an App on the Cover display, it will automatically show up on the main display when you switch to the Main display for seamless operation. Samsung has also said that it has worked with Google and also with the Android developer community to optimize the apps and services for Galaxy Fold.
The Samsung Galaxy fold is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform with 12GB RAM and comes with 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal Storage. It has 4,320mAh dual battery system that supports Wired and also Wireless fast charging. It is also capable of charging itself and a second device simultaneously via Wireless PowerShare, while connected to a regular charger. There is no expandable storage slot. Another key highlight of the Galaxy fold is its camera. It has totally six sensors – three in the back, two on the inside and one on the cover. Other key features are Samsung DeX, Bixby, Samsung Knox, Samsung Pay, Samsung Health etc.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold comes in four colors – Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green & Astro Blue and priced at US$ 1,980 (Approx. ₹1,41,100). It will be available in both 4G as well as
