Android 8.1 Oreo Update Now Available for Nokia 2

Just a day after announcing the Android Pie beta for its 2-year old Nokia 6, Nokia has announced Android 8.1 Oreo update for its entry-level Nokia 2. The OTA update rollout process for Nokia 2 is different compared to other devices. A few days back, Nokia has said that the performance of Android Oreo on Nokia 2 may not be fluid as compared to the Android Nougat due to Hardware compatibility. Due to unavoidable reasons, Nokia had decided to give two options for Nokia 2 users. Those who need a better UI experience can stay with the existing Android Nougat OS. Those who want new features with Android 8.1 Oreo can request Android Oreo update through a web page.

Now, the webpage is live and interested users can request the OTA update by validating the device using IMEI number. Those who are already testing Android Oreo on their devices via Nokia phones beta labs will automatically be transferred across to the Android Oreo for Nokia 2 program. You’ll receive a push notification once the update is available on your device. Nokia has clearly said that “the performance of Nokia 2 on Oreo may not to be the same level as enjoyed with Nougat and some applications may not be supported”. The OTA update size is about 1.3GB and comes with December 2018 security patches.
