UIDAI Launches mAadhaar App to Download Aadhaar Details on Mobile Phones

mAadhaar is an official Android app developed by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to provide an interface to Aadhaar Number holders to carry their demographic information such as Name, Date of Birth, Gender & Address along with photograph as linked with their Aadhaar Number in smartphones. As of now, this app is only available for Android and can be download from the Google Play on smartphones with Android version 4.4 and up.

  • Aadhaar holder profile download
  • Biometric authentications locking and unlocking – Once resident enables the Biometric Locking system, their biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar Holder unlocks it
  • TOTP generation – Time-based One Time Password is an automatically generated temporary password which can be used instead of SMS based OTP
  • Get updated view of Aadhaar profile data after successful completion of the update request.
  • Share QR code and password protected eKYC data to retrieve accurate demographic information instead of manual entry.

Things to Remember

  • Registered Mobile Number is essential to use the mAadhaar app. Else, visit the nearest enrollment center to update the mobile number
  • Once you open the app, you will be asked to create an app password. This password is required every time while opening your Aadhaar profile or making changes
  • Do not enter the wrong password again and again. Your account will be blocked if you enter the wrong password five times
  • To get TOTP,  Open the app and select your Aadhaar profile and enter the password. Tap on the ‘Show TOTP’ to get your temporary OTP
  • As per UIDAI, mAadhaar App is still in beta stage and some of the features and services would be fully applicable only in the upcoming updates
