Canon has released a new firmware update for its popular entry-level DSLR Canon 1200d. This firmware update includes fixes related to Exposure for TS-E lenses. Although update doesn’t contain noticeable changes, it’s better to keep your camera always updated. Go through the below instructions to update your camera.
Update changelog (v1.0.1)
Fixes a phenomenon in which the captured image may exhibit uneven exposure when the camera is used with a TS-E 17mm f/4L or TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II lens which is shifted or tilted during shooting.
Things to remember
- Power failure during update process may break your camera. So make sure the battery is fully charged
- Do not turn off camera during the update process
- Before the update process, remove all the camera accessories like Lens, External Flash etc.
- Do not press any buttons during the update process
Canon 1200d Firmware Update Process
- Download Firmware update file from Canon website: Windows | Mac
- Extract the downloaded file v102-t5-1200d-x70-win
- Copy CCF15102.FIR file to your camera memory card root directory. Make sure the Memory card is formatted in the camera before copying the firmware file into it
- Insert the memory card into the camera.
- Set the camera mode to P by rotating the dial.
Go to camera settings and select Firmware Ver. 1.0.0 / 1.0.1
Select OK to begin with firmware update process.
Now select the firmware
Select OK to start firmware update.
The firmware update may take up to ten minutes.
You will get a confirmation message once the update is done. Do not press any buttons until the update complete message.

Update (14 Nov, 2016): Firmware Update 1.0.2 is now available. Firmware Version 1.0.2 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.1. If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.0.2, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Corrects a phenomenon in which when using the camera with the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM or EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM lens, even if lens aberration correction is set to “Enable”, the correction will not be applied.
