Apple announces Apple Watch Series 3. It comes with built-in LTE support that allows users to remain connected without the need of a smartphone for making phone calls, receiving text messages or playing music. In the event, Tim Cook also mentioned that Apple watch is now top selling watch in the world ahead of Rolex. It features a barometric altimeter that assists with tracking activity, flights climbed and outdoor workouts, including elevation gain.
The apple watch 3 is available in two variants – one with GPS and cellular, and one with GPS. The size of the new Apple watch remains same as the previous generation but comes with few additional features. The LTE variant watch shares the same mobile number and switches seamlessly to cellular when it is away from iPhone. The new Apple watch doesn’t come with a SIM card slot instead it has an eSIM that is over one-hundredth the size of a traditional SIM card that can be easily activated over the air. Also, this watch features an industry-first antenna design that uses the display itself as an antenna.
Furthermore, it is powered by the 3rd Gen. dual-core processor and also includes a faster and more power efficient Apple designed wireless chip called W2. It is also water resistance up to 50 meters and comes with intelligent coaching features. The Apple watch runs on watchOS 4 which will be available to users starting September 19. Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) requires iPhone 6 or later running iOS 11 or later and Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) requires iPhone 5S or later running iOS 11 or later.

Apple Watch is sold in two case sizes – 38mm and 42mm. Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) is priced at $399 (US) and will be available in Gold/Silver/Space Gray aluminum or Silver/Space Black stainless steel paired with a variety of bands to choose from. The GPS variant will be available in Gold, Silver, and Space Gray aluminum cases with a Sport Band starting at $329 (US). Both new watches along with the Nike+ and Hermès variants will be available to pre-order beginning September 15 and ships on September 22.
