Huawei’s e-brand Honor has started rolling out Android 9.0 Pie update for its popular smartphones – Honor Play and Honor 8X in India. The latest OTA update comes bundled with EMUI 9.1 and includes various new features & improvements including a new UI Design, Gesture-based navigation, GPU Turbo 3.0, EROFS and more.
The OTA update is already started rolling out in India and may take a couple of days to reach every device due to the staged rollout. You’ll receive the update notification on your phone once the update hits your device.
Update Changelog:
- Gesture-based navigation – Simple swipes instead of clicking on buttons
- Reduced SoC power consumption during gameplay by 10% with improved graphics performance
- An all-new EROFS – Improves app speed, Increased random read performance, Increased app start-up speed, Increased data reading performance, Improved the security of system files

Honor Play is available at ₹13,999 (4GB/64GB) and ₹15,999 (6GB/64GB), on Amazon and Flipkart. HONOR 8X is available at ₹11,999 (4GB/64GB), ₹13,999 (6GB/64GB) and ₹17,999 (6GB/128GB) on Amazon and Flipkart.
