Back in December Nokia has announced Android Oreo Beta update for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. Today, the company has started rolling out stable Android 8.0 Oreo update for both Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global confirmed this news on Twitter. Android Oreo update includes various features such as Faster boot time, Picture-in-picture support, Notification dots, Autofill passwords, Google play protect, Adaptive icons, Background limits etc. The update size for Nokia 6 is about 1.8GB and comes with January 2018 security patch.
As it is a staged rollout, a small percentage of users will receive the update first and will reach other users in a few days. You will receive the update notification once the update reaches your device. You can also check for the update manually by going to Settings -> About -> System Updates -> Check for update.
Things to Remember
- To be on a safer side, take a full backup of your smartphone before initiating the update
- Make sure the battery is at least 50% or above
- As per update changelog, You can only download this update via a WiFi connection
