Nokia had introduced Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 in India in June 2017 with Android Nougat on board. In December, Nokia had also announced Android Oreo Beta update for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 and released the Stable Oreo build in January 2018. Today, the company has started rolling out stable Android 8.0 Oreo update for its entry-level Nokia 5. The news is confirmed on Twitter by Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global. The Android Oreo update includes various features such as Faster boot time, Picture-in-picture support, Autofill passwords, Google play protect, Adaptive icons etc.
As it is a staged rollout, a small percent of users will receive the update first and will reach other users in a few days. You will receive the update notification on your notification panel once the update hits your device. You can also check for the update manually by going to Settings -> About -> System Updates -> Check for update.
